Biomedical Repair
Equipment Need Repair?
Equipment Outreach, Inc. can assist with your medical equipment repair needs.

Our Biomedical Department can diagnose and repair many types of equipment. We send you a repair estimate for review and approval prior to any final work being done. If approved, any diagnostics charge is applied to your bill. It's that simple!

Be sure to pack up any item well (we suggest you take it to a shipping store - towels, paper and used bubble wrap are NOT good packing materials) and ship them in to us by method of your choice (please allow up to 5 business days for shipping).  Be sure to include a note with who to contact about the unit and what it is or is not doing (error messages, etc).   All items are returned via UPS (again, allow up to 5 business days for shipping).
For more information, please contact us at 888-996-9968 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Service Tips: Anesthesia Maintenance Checklist
The following items should be checked on a regular basis.

  • Pressure from H-tank or other O2 supply should be set at 50 PSI
  • Check that you have a backup supply at all times as well
Anesthetic agent level
  • Fill at the end of the day in a well ventilated area. Keep fill funnel clean.
Absorber

a) CO2 Absorbent replace every 10 hours of use -OR-
b) CO2 Absorbent replaced once a week (even if not used due to moisture content loss) -OR-
c) CO2 Absorbent replaced when 50% color change ONLY during first continuous use (not a good general rule of thumb)

Waste gas scavenging

  • Be sure recovery for Isoflurane patients is in well ventilated area.
  • Use only cuffed ET tubes, induction chamber or mask.
  • Use anesthetic only in well ventilated areas.
Breathing system test
  • Absorber leak test: No more than 200 ml (400 ml on old machines) O2 flow to hold 40cm H20
  • To perform test:  close pop-off, block O2 hose end and flush O2 to 40cm, if system does not hold pressure, there is a leak.
Pop off function
  • Ensure the pop-off valve or RSO restrictor tightens and loosens smoothly and functions properly.
Breathing bag and tubes
  • When back inflates for pop-off test, be sure bag is not leaking and both bag and tubes are in good condition
Flowmeter
  • Test flow meters to insure proper smooth function
Endotracheal tubes
  • Test for cuff leaks by inflating and inspecting cuffs.
Preventative maintenance
  • Do preventative maintenance on anesthesia machines every 6 months, have vaporizers fully serviced once per year.
